Student Government

Positions & Descriptions

President

  1. Preside and chair all student body and Student Government meetings.
  2. Represent Siena Heights Student Government on all occasions that call for it (speeches, committee meetings, board meetings, etc.)
  3. Appoint all necessary ad hoc committees and chairpersons thereof not provided for in the constitution, with the advice and consent of the Student Government.
  4. Accept responsibilities for carrying out the provisions of this constitution’s decisions and policies of Student Government for the welfare of Siena Heights University. 
  5. Make reports to the students and any student organizations that request it.
  6. Suspend any Student Government member who is pending impeachment.

Vice-President

  1. Perform the duties of the President at all times when the President is absent.
  2. Attend all student government meetings as called by the President.
  3. Lead and instruct all committees. Appoint members of the Student Government to serve on the university and Government standing committees
  4. ​Coordinate all marketing functions for Student Government.

Treasurer

  1. Attend all student government meetings as called by the President
  2. Keep an accurate and true account of all finished transactions of the Student Government.
  3. Present a verbal financial report, including a list of the transactions that have occurred since the last Government meeting, at each Student Government meeting.
  4. ​Notify an organization’s President, Student Government Representative, and advisor of due receipts one week prior to their due date.

Historian

  1. Attend all student government meetings as called by the President
  2. Keep a roll of Student Government members and maintain an accurate attendance record for both Government and committee meetings
  3. Take minutes and attendance at all Student Government meetings, which will be typed and published monthly for approval by Student Government.
  4. Post minutes publicly and file all original Student Government minutes.
  5. Inform Executive Board Officers and Senators in violation of the attendance policy.
  6. ​Send reminders to all student organizations about deadlines, meetings, and any other important messages asked to be sent by the E-board.

Senator

  1. Will be the voice of constituents in their class
  2. Will assist in facilitating all manners of student government. (Events, Elections, Delegated Tasks, Campus Projects, etc.) 
  3. Will actively engage in all voting processes of Student Government.
  4. Will serve on one (1) standing committee or one (1) university committee, as appointed by the Vice President.

At-Large Senator

  1. Will be the voice of constituents in their class

  3. Will actively engage in all voting processes of Student Government.
  4. Will serve on one (1) standing committee or one (1) university committee, as appointed by the Vice President.

Position Petitions

This is where you can sign up to be on the voting ballot to join Student Government. Contact the Student Government email or one of the E-board members with any questions. Turn the petition into the Student Government office before the deadline to be on the ballot!
